oraÑora is a cultivated variety of Capsicum annuum or pepper, called "bola" (ball) in Alicante and Murcia, where it became popular, small in size, round in shape and red in color when ripe, which is left to dry in the sun. It has a sweet taste and is widely used in gastronomy in Catalonia and the Spanish Levante, especially in the Region of Murcia and Alicante.
It is essential in Catalan cuisine in the preparation of the popular romescu sauce, in fish stews and in other preparations. The fruits are sold dried and their gastronomic properties are activated by immersing them in water (opening the fruit a little) and letting them soak for a while, then scraping the internal part of the skin, to remove the meat in the form of a paste that is added to various preparations.
Although it belongs to the genus capsicum, it is not at all spicy. With which for connoisseurs, you have to make sure that it does not belong to another class that is really spicy.
